Liberia, 2025
We had 2 weeks of clinic in Monrovia Liberia West Africa. Our clinic consisted of optical, dental and 3 RNs. We were a team of 9, and 31 Liberian helpers.
The autorefractor saw 610 patients and gave out 477 prescription glasses. 1075 sunglasses were given out and 751 readers were given. Several children and some young adults needed dilation drops.
There were quite a few patients who needed their eyes read manually with the lens rack. People who we thought, how in the world is this going to work for them. But he Lord didn't give up on them, even tho at times we were of little faith. It was amazing and rewarding to see these very hard patients get their miracle pair of glasses. God is good.
Many Muslims came and some asked if they were allowed to come to the clinic. Of course they are welcome to come. ??
There was singing, testimonies and preaching to the crowd who were waiting to be seen. It is also our goal is that each patient at some point gets prayed for.
On the night before our last clinic day was a robbery at the clinic. Most of the lower strength readers, 50 pair prescriptions and alot of antibiotics for dental was stolen. It was slim pickings for readers, and sadly some dental patients were unable to get their treatment because of the theft. But the autorefractor still had a great last day.
Of the photos, the 2 older ladies needed the lens rack. They came with dark sulen faces, and left radiant with sight! The Muslim woman in the past photo was so happy that she hugged Paul, who worked the computer, tight!
We pray that each person who came through the clinic was touched by the good news of the Gospel and felt cared for and loved.
