We spent 4 clinic days in Bayou La Batre, AL, an area still economically repressed in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Our local partners were from the First Baptist Church of Bayou La Batre; and together we hoped to see at least 100 patients throughout the week. What happened felt miraculous - we were welcomed by a local middle school to setup shop, and 500 guests came. When the school's principal saw the great response, they also gave us access to a gym, and we hosted guests with water, conversations and games and crafts for kids while they waited in line. All told, we fitted over 340 pairs of glasses (not counting readers, folks with fine vision, difficult cases beyond our skill and some who couldn't wait as long as necessary to be seen)! Even for those who didn't need our service, the presence of this clinic in that community meant a lot. My favorite story was that of a young mother of two, whose 9 year old daughter went from 20/100 OS and 20/50 OD to 20/30 in both eyes ... school won't ever be the same for her! The people of that are were gracious to us, and grateful, too.</div> <bR> <div> God bless you for your ministry.  Because of your obedience to God, 387 people in Honduras are now able to see better.  Again thank you and God bless you.</div> <bR> <div> Saying THANK YOU is appropriate, but I'm feeling so much more than gratitude. I'm amazed at God's plan and his people. I am humbled that all of your work equipped us to help all of those people. The experience has led many of my team to worship God for his goodness, mercy and sovereign plan.
